My main area of interest is the development of Windows applications, as well as the reverse and re-engineering of programs and file formats. However, I'm also spending parts of my rare freetime on the design and implementation of websites. The following is a list of the more serious projects I was working on in the past. Some of them are still online, others were replaced a long time ago. I have a strong preference for flat and clean designs, but I'm also trying a lot of other things that somehow flow into my style.

Gratisakku
http://www.gratisakku.de

May 2004

Gratisakku.de is a german website that offers spare cellphone batteries for (almost) free. It basically consists of a small online form where the customers can select their batteries of choice and submit an order. The requirement was to design a simple and attentive website with the visual style of advertisement flyers for low-budget offers that can often be found in newspapers. It has been created within three days and now serves as a test platform to probe the potential of the low-cost cellphone battery market.

Clan Wolf in Exile

Jun 2003 - Today

This is the communication central for Clan Wolf in Exile, a Netbattletech league clan for the computer game Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries. The fictious background of this online community is the so called Battletech universe where giant war machines are fighting on the interstellar battlefields of the 31st century. In order to provide a home to this clan as quick as possible, i decided to use a slightly modified version of the popular XOOPS content management system for the backend of this website.

Feb 2003 - Today

This is the website for Flowershop, a special software tool for the management of ICQ databases. The program itself is still under development and a release date is uncertain due to a lot of other work I have to do. The fresh and colorful design of this website was the result of a 60 minutes random experiment to spice up my ordinary "Flat & Border" style.

Photography is a rather new hobby of mine. Motivated by some photographers on the internet and in the need of high quality raw material for my webdesign projects i bought a Sony DCS-717 digital camera in winter 2002. Amazed at the stunning results of my very first pictures, I soon fell in love with digital photography. The pictures on this site are some assorted samples of my photographic work. My favourite motives are flowers and small animals, but i also like to capture natural scenes.

TacticalOps: Assault on Terror
http://www.tactical-ops.to

Dec 2002 - Today

tactical-ops.to is the official product website for the popular computer game TacticalOps: Assault on Terror, developed by Kamehan Studios and published by Infogrames (Atari) in Summer 2002. The website uses an improved and multi-lingual version of a custom built content management system. It replaced the german community website tactical-ops.de

TacticalOps Deutschland
http://www.tactical-ops.de

May 2001 - Dec 2002

tactical-ops.de used to be the largest german community website for the very popular Unreal Tournament modification 'TacticalOps'. The website consists of a straight-forward content management system (written from scratch) that generates the complete content from a mySQL database. The whole site can be easily modified and extended through a comfortable web backend. With up to 25.000 page impressions per day it was one of the most successful gaming websites at that time.

American Express Codeblue Contest
http://www.americanexpress.com

Dec 2000 - Jan 2001

This is an online-shop example to demonstrate the features of a Java Smart Card based implementation of the Secure Electronic Transaction (SET) protocol written by Mykhailo Ljubich (Ph.D. thesis at the University of Rostock, Germany). In winter 2001 this project participated in the final round of the Codeblue programming contest in New York and won a $5000 prize. It allows customers to perform secure online payments by simply using their credit cards. A public demo is currently not available because this shop requires a complex server setup (payment gateway).

Franke Mobilfunk
http://www.frankenet.de

Oct 1999 - 2001

frankenet.de started as an expiremental online shop for mobile phones, accessories and spare parts. Within a few weeks it became so popular that the company heavily expanded the product palette and turned into one of Germany's biggest store for this kind of products. It was planned to replace the JavaScript based shopping cart system with a more powerfull server-side solution in mySQL/XML, but due to lack of time I'm no longer responsible for this site. The original design has been modified by the company.
